I've trialed Reflector as an add-in to Visual Studio, and as a stand-alone with Reflexil as an add-in to edit compiled dll routines.

I now want to purchase a copy but which version?

I will probably need to edit compiled source code again and I believe I can only do that in the standalone version with Reflexil as an add-in...but would the VS add-in version also work as a standalone with Reflexil as an add-in?

The VS add-in runs inside Visual Studio and doesn't allow you to run addins such as the ReflexIl addin. However if you buy the VS or VS Pro version the licence is valid for the standalone version too.
